Editorial Role
Editors assess whether a manuscript fits the journal scope, meets scholarly and ethical standards, and should proceed to external review. Decisions should be based on scholarly merit, methodological soundness, relevance, originality, clarity, reviewer input, and compliance with journal and publisher policies.
Initial Assessment
At initial screening, editors should consider scope, novelty, article type, presentation quality, completeness of declarations, ethical documentation where applicable, data availability, and possible plagiarism, duplicate submission, image, citation, or authorship concerns.
Reviewer Selection
Editors should invite reviewers with appropriate expertise and without known conflicts of interest. Reviewer selection should support fair, timely, constructive, and independent assessment.
Handling Competing Interests
Editors should recuse themselves from handling manuscripts where they have a financial, professional, institutional, collaborative, personal, or other conflict that could reasonably affect impartiality.
Confidentiality and AI
Manuscripts, reviews, editorial correspondence, and unpublished data are confidential. Editors must not upload confidential materials to public or unsecured AI tools. AI support must not replace human editorial judgment.
Editorial Decisions
Editors may recommend or decide rejection, revision, acceptance, or transfer where applicable. Decision letters should be clear, respectful, and supported by relevant editorial and reviewer comments.
Ethical Concerns
If ethical or integrity concerns arise, editors should pause routine handling where necessary and consult the publisher policy, editorial office, and appropriate experts or institutions when required.
Contact
Editorial questions or policy concerns should be directed to the journal editorial office or publisher office.
