Academic Partner

NEW HORIZON PRESS LIMITED works with universities, research institutes and learned societies to publish open access journals and bring research communities together in environmental science, agriculture, energy and artificial intelligence.

The press is independently owned. A partnership does not transfer ownership of a journal, and it gives no institution influence over peer review or editorial decisions.

What a partnership means

The same five rules apply to every academic partner.

Partnerships are disclosed
Every partner institution is named on this page and on the journal it supports. We do not enter undisclosed arrangements.
Editors are appointed on academic record
A partner may nominate researchers to an editorial board. Appointments are made by the publisher together with the editor-in-chief, on the strength of the candidate’s academic record.
Peer review stays independent
No partner sees manuscripts, reviewer reports or editorial decisions before publication, and no partner has any say over acceptance or publication timing.
Ownership does not change
Our journals are owned and published by NEW HORIZON PRESS LIMITED. A partnership does not make a journal the official organ of an institution or society.
No preference for partner authors
Submissions from a partner institution are handled under the same policies as any other submission. Editors step aside from decisions on work by their own institution or co-authors, as set out in our Publishing Policies.

Ways to work with us

Choose the form of partnership that fits your institution or society.

Co-publishing a journal
Your institution or society provides the academic leadership and nominates members of the editorial board. We remain the publisher and handle open access publishing, production and distribution.
Special issues
Research groups can propose a themed special issue. Proposals are assessed by the journal’s editors, who appoint the guest editors and keep the final decision on every paper. Guest editors do not handle their own submissions.
Conferences and events
We work with partners on academic conferences, workshops and recorded talks. Papers presented at an event still go through the journal’s normal peer review. See Conference & Video for past events.
